Hormone and Tumor Markers Unit
The unit includes automated hormone analyzers that measure and analyze the hormones produced by the endocrine glands to detect diseases and conditions associated with the dysfunction of these glands. The hormone unit performs a variety of tests, such as: Thyroid function tests, measurement of growth hormone, parathyroid hormone, and hormones affecting fertility in men and women. Tumor markers are also one of the most important tests performed in the hormone unit, for example, tumor marker tests in the liver (AFP), colon (CEA) (CA 19-9), prostate (PSA), ovary (CA 125), and breast (CA 15-3).
